When Your Pet is a Patient

We take the time to listen to you and answer any questions you may have about prognosis, treatment plan, nutrition, and how to keep your pet happy and comfortable during treatment.

Your pet’s well-being is always our highest priority, and we do our best to ensure that he or she is happy and comfortable. As treatment progresses your pet should only notice that he or she is feeling better.

Referrals are by appointment only. Our doctors’ schedules vary, so please contact us for more information. We ask that all new clients come to their consultation appointment with radiographs if they have them. All other medical information will be collected from your primary veterinarian prior to your appointment.

Your first consultation will last an hour to an hour and a half. Your pet’s oncologist will perform a physical exam, review medical records, and discuss treatment options with you, which may include surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation oncology. Any additional lab work or diagnostics will be done at this time.

By the end of the appointment or when we have all the medical information we need, we will meet with you to discuss a plan.

Some owners find they need time to make a decision about the next step. We understand, and we want you to know you will not need to make a decision that day. If you do wish to begin you pet’s treatment immediately, we will make our best effort to accommodate your schedule.

You will receive a written report within three business days of your appointment. We also will send copies of your report to your primary care veterinarian for his or her records and confer with him or her throughout your pet’s treatment.

We will continuously monitor your pet’s comfort and health throughout his or her care.  Open and regular lines of communication are important to ensure everything is going as planned both medically as well as at home. Quality of life is important, and as your pet’s advocate, we look to you for guidance.
